Interview

🔎 How did you discover Great Expectations? What did you do with it first?

I explored the market for open-source DQ tools, and compared with Amazon Deequ.

🌱 What are some things you find rewarding about contributing to an open source project?

DQ is very underrated topic in the IT community right now, and contributing to open source projects supports growth and development of awareness and virality.

🧡 Is there anything about contributing to GX specifically that you enjoy?

I more enjoy writing useful articles.

🛠️ If you’ve contributed Expectations: what do your Expectations do, and what are some reasons someone would want to use them?

I don’t contribute Expectations, I’m more interested in contributing with rules about how to be more conscious when using Expectations, to make them more useful.

🏆 What contribution to GX are you most proud of and why?

I think it’s my article about how to test ETL via GX.

📣 Are there any other open source projects you contribute to that you’d like to shout out?

Yes, Data Quality Gate. It’s a Terraform module that enables data engineers and data QA professionals to effortlessly set up the Provectus DataQA solution within their infrastructure in a single click. It is AWS-based and built on the solid foundation of Great Expectations, YData Profiling (ex. Pandas Profiling), and Allure.

✅ What does data quality mean to you?

It’s a process which shows customers or the data owner how much of their data is bad, and supports them in fixing it.
