We are thrilled to welcome André Bearfield to the Great Expectations team as our new director of product!
His varied and wide-ranging experience in scaling up product teams, products themselves, and sales enablement will be invaluable to GX Cloud as we continue to grow and develop the GX platform.
Most recently, André worked at Digital Ocean, where he was a senior director of product strategy. Prior to that, he led the conceptualization and development of product at Blue Box, where his work was central in Blue Box pivoting from white glove services to private cloud as a service provider. When IBM acquired Blue Box, André led the successful integration of Blue Box Cloud into IBM's existing organization and infrastructure as a senior director of product.
One of the things that André is most looking forward to in joining GX is the chance to return to his roots working on a small team, but now with a more mature perspective on business, technology, and leadership.
"GX is a company of industry experts with a big problem to solve in a market segment where there are lots of unknowns," André said. "I'm excited for the opportunity to work again with a product that's at an early, pioneering stage."
André is more than familiar with the significance of data quality. Business case development, investment, and directional decisions all determine the future of a product. Having detailed and reliable data about factors like product consumption, adoption metrics, and performance, among others, are crucial to getting those decisions right.
This is doubly applicable for products with consumption-based costs, André explained, which many of the products he’s overseen have been. Both the company and the customer require extremely high confidence that the product consumption data is accurate, particularly in multi-product scenarios, in order to maintain trust in the billing process.
This personal insight into the importance of data quality for data teams and those who rely on them makes us doubly confident that GX Cloud is in the right hands with André.
Alongside his work in product, André is extremely interested in the future of technology and the technologists who will run it. He co-founded HERE Seattle, a nonprofit that worked to increase the cultural and racial diversity of Seattle's technical and creative sector. Currently, he stays engaged with the young technologists of the future as an adjunct professor at the University of Washington's Informatics School.
André is based in Seattle, where he's fully committed to dark mode—"easy on the eyes and the battery." In addition to his professional pursuits, he maintains a lifelong passion for songwriting and music production.
