Staying on top of data quality is easier when you know what’s new in GX Cloud. This update introduces enhancements to SQL Expectations, highlights our partnership with Atlan, provides details on upcoming version support changes, and offers an opportunity to participate in a hands-on workshop to experience the latest features.
Write and review Expectations
We’ve streamlined how SQL-based Expectations work in GX Cloud:
Instead of switching between “Generate SQL” and “Write your own SQL” tabs, the prompt now appears inline, right where you need it.
Clicking Generate SQL creates a draft Expectation that you can review and adjust before saving.
If you’re editing an Expectation that was created from a prompt, you’ll now see the exact prompt that was used, giving you more context and control.
New partnership: GX + Atlan
GX is now a Launch Partner for the Atlan App Framework. This new framework enables developers to build on Atlan’s Metadata Lakehouse with standardized APIs, secure runtimes, and marketplace distribution.
Time to upgrade: GX Core 0.18 retires soon
On October 1, 2025, GX Cloud will cease to support GX Core versions 0.18 and earlier. Upgrading ensures you get:
Cleaner APIs that follow intuitive patterns
Typed parameters with IDE auto-complete
No more YAML formatting headaches
Clear, more helpful error messages
The Migration Guide walks you through the upgrade step by step.
Upcoming workshops: Getting Started with GX Cloud
Tuesday Sept 9th, 9am PT | Sept 23rd 6am PT
Join our hands-on workshop to see GX Cloud’s latest features in action:
ExpectAI: Turn plain-English prompts into working SQL tests you can review before they run.
Data health dashboard: Get one-click visibility into health scores, coverage gaps, and failures ranked by business impact.
Data sources: Explore the expanding list of sources, learn about support levels, and request new ones from inside the platform.
Rather than just reading about these features, you’ll try them first-hand—writing prompts, exploring dashboards, and validating data in real time.
