Please join us in welcoming Rachel House as Great Expectations’ newest senior developer advocate!
GX is Rachel’s first developer relations role, but she’s far from unfamiliar with the data engineering community: she’s spent the majority of her career as a developer in data engineering, data science, and software. Most recently, she supported ML at Everactive and AI engineering at S&P Global in data engineering and science roles.
She sees devrel as a chance to work with the projects and communities she’s familiar with from a new perspective, one focused on education and support.
“I’m looking forward to moving from building data-powered systems to enabling others to build theirs,” she said. “I still very much love to write code, so I’m excited to use that to create well-built tutorials and tools that help developers most effectively use our products.”
Rachel is familiar with the value that open source tools have for developers, as a longtime user and fan of Streamlit. “It’s an amazing open source framework for creating apps in Python,” she said. “I’ve gotten so much out of Streamlit and other open source tools; I’m excited to start contributing back to the open source community in a meaningful way.”
While devrel roles are largely focused on external communities, a strong sense of internal community was also important to Rachel as she chose her next role: “I resonated with the GX team members I met during the interview process, and took it to heart when nearly every person said that the people at GX are the best part of the job.”
Rachel lives in Charlottesville, VA, where she uses both dark and light mode depending on the time of day. Outside of work, she’s a lifelong bookworm and traveler. She also enjoys dancing, most recently making a foray into ballet, and has spent several years perfecting her homemade pizza skills.
