We’re excited to welcome Martin Hertz to Great Expectations as a senior engineering manager!
Martin has extensive experience in engineering management, most recently at Logixboard, When I Work, and Handrail. In those roles and others, he collaborated with data operations teams—which is part of what drew him to GX.
“I’ve worked alongside data operations teams that had an outsized impact on their company,” Martin said. “Working in GX’s problem space, and giving those teams tools to expand that impact even further, is super enticing.”
The opportunity that GX as a company offers for everyone to make a difference is another reason that moving to GX appealed to him.
“I love working in an environment where everyone’s impact matters,” he said. “And somewhere like GX with high growth potential by default demands continuous improvement from everyone. It keeps things exciting.”
Martin will be taking over as head of a team that’s focused on GX Cloud, GX’s SaaS solution for data quality. His background in SaaS-specific roles, where he led teams through confronting and overcoming the challenges associated with releasing a cloud product at scale, will be invaluable in the ramp-up to the full release of GX Cloud.
“It sounds cliche, but helping build great teams and a great organization to deliver a great product is what gets me excited day to day,” Martin said. “I’m a servant leader and the leadership perspectives of Lawrence [Bruhmuller (VP of engineering)], Abe [Gong (CEO)], and others at GX really clicked with me.”
Martin is located in Minneapolis, MN, where he held out against dark mode for a long time before becoming a true believer. Outside of work, Martin and his family enjoy spending time swimming in the summer and hanging out by the fireplace in the winter. He’s also picking up woodworking through a local makerspace.
