GX Core 1.0 released
GX Cloud’s most critical capabilities—including Expectations!—are provided by GX Core. The release of GX Core 1.0 is a big moment for the entire GX platform.
The changes for GX Core 1.0 include:
Streamlining the API so it’s easier to learn
More straightforward workflows that make next steps clear
Updated and intuitive documentation that’s simpler to navigate
These changes make GX Core easier to use on its own, something that’s very important to us and part of our commitment to our open source community.
But they also have benefits for GX Cloud! GX Core 1.0’s update will make it easier for us to maintain and extend GX Core’s functionality, which in turn makes more capabilities available to GX Cloud.
Multi-select tables to create Data Assets
You can now multi-select tables from a Data Source to create multiple Assets at the same time! This makes it much easier to bring multiple tables under test in GX Cloud.
Simplified user experience upgrades
To make it easier to navigate GX Cloud, we’ve reorganized the left menu bar, removing the “Expectation Suites” and “Checkpoints” options. This puts your Data Assets (and their Expectations) at the center of your GX Cloud experience.
Your Expectations’ behavior is unchanged, and you can access your Expectation Suites and Checkpoints through your Data Asset.
This is the first of an exciting set of usability updates that we have in the works! Our goal with these changes is to focus the GX Cloud experience so that you only ever need to think about two things: your Data Assets and their Expectations.
Summer wrap-up
August’s updates put a cap on a busy summer of new features for GX Cloud:
Directly connect to your data: the GX Agent is no longer required!
You can schedule your GX Cloud validation runs directly in-app.
There are now 44 Expectations covering 9 types of data quality issues, in a new easy-to-browse interface.
Everything to know about GX Cloud on one page
We have a new resource: the GX Cloud one-pager PDF.
If your manager or colleagues never seem to get around to clicking the links you send them, try it out!
